"Die Schule von Szeged"-also known as the School of Szeged-signifies in jurisprudence the revival especially of legal philosophy and the sociology of law by students who once were the disciples of BARNA HORVÁTH (1896-1973) only to become his colleagues soon in the South-Eastern intellectual centre of Hungary during the short interwar period the 20th century. The school was composed of different scholars like, first of all, ISTVÁN BIBÓ (1911-1979), JÓZSEF SZABÓ (1909-1992) and TIBOR VAS (1911-1983), whose papers contemporarily published in either German or French (together with two review articles relating to them) are reproduced - as introduced be relevant biographies and bibliographies - in the volume. In tormented periods even dramatis personae may encounter a greater chance of being destined to a heroic life. The present volume is exemplary of both this and its antithesis, maybe also conditioned by such times.
